USING TWEETABLE STATEMENTS TO MAKE YOUR INFOGRAPHIC GO VIRAL

Tweetable statements are a social sharing strategy that I often do not see companies implement when publishing infographics on their own site. Tweetable statements are small snippets of sharable data figures from the actual infographic that are linked within the text of the blog post or page that hosts the infographic. By using tweetable statements, companies can leverage the viral nature of sharing links within the Twitter social network.

You can add tweetable statements as quotes within the blog post or provide a list below the content or actual infographic. You should test the position of the tweetable statements to see what works best for your audience. Next we will discuss how to create these tweetable statements with one of the free Twitter tools.

    Creating the Twitter Button
Twitter offers a free resource that allows you to create custom share buttons. Twitter provides several different button choices: Share A Link, Follow, Hashtag, and Mention. For our purposes we are going to look at how to leverage the Share A Link button to help make your infographic go viral.

1.) So go ahead and select the Share A Link button.
    2.) Under Button Options

a.) In the Share URL section select the “http://” box. You will want to use a shorten URL that links to your blog post or page that hosts the infographic (not to the actual image file). Using a shorten URL will allow you more characters in your tweetable statements. It is also advisable to use a branded shorten URL.

b.) In the Tweet text section you will want to add your tweetable statement text. You will NOT want to use the full 140 available characters for this statement. You need to leave enough space for the shorten URL to be included in the tweet.

c.) Uncheck the Show count box. It is not necessary to display the tweet count on these tweetable statements.

d.) In the Via section add your twitter handle.

e.) You will not need to use the Recommend or Hashtag sections.

f.) You have the option to use a larger version of the twitter button. This is up to your discretion.

g.) In the Language section you will choose the native language for your audience.

    3.) Under Preview and code

a.) You will now need to copy the generated code and place it within the body of the blog post.

4.) Repeat the steps for each of the tweetable statements you want to create.

Also note that you will want to use a scheduling tool like HootSuite or Buffer to post these infographic data snippets to your own social networking timelines. This is a great initial promotional tactic to bring awareness for your newly created infographic. Happy sharing!
